Palm Beach Gardens resident Rory McIlroy wins his third major championship and takes home his first British Open.

McIlroy won by 2 strokes over Sergio Garcia and Rickie Fowler at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.  He joins Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only three players to win three majors by the age of 25.

McIlroy joins 16 others in golf history who have won at least three majors.  If he is able to win The Masters at any point in his career, he will join Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Gene Sarazen as the only golfers to capture The Grand Slam.

By winning the Claret Jug, McIlroy moves up to second in the current World Golf Rankings.
