Justify won the Triple Crown after galloping to victory in the 150th Belmont Stakes with a time of 2:28.18. Justify led wire to wire and pulled away in the final stretch to win by a comfortable one and three-quarter lengths.

Justify is the 13th horse to win the Triple Crown and first since American Pharoah accomplished the feat in 2015.

Veteran jockey Mike Smith rode Justify in the grueling mile-and-half long race against a field of nine horses, including Bravazo, who finished in second place at the Preakness.

It is the second Triple Crown win for trainer Bob Baffert. He also trained American Pharoah in 2015. After the race was over, he felt that Justify "could have won every race on the undercard today."

“It’s very emotional for me,” Baffert said afterward, noting the early signs he saw from his horse that a Triple Crown was possible. “He was showing me the same signs [as American Pharoah]. He was showing me that brilliance, [a] superior horse. He could have won every race on the undercard today, he’s just that kind of horse.”

Gronkowski finished in second place and Hofburg came in third.
