Miami-Dade Hosts Coastal Cleanup This Weekend

This year's International Coastal Cleanup Miami-Dade is taking place this weekend, and the community is looking for your help!

This Saturday, 40+ locations across the county will be conducting coastal cleanups.

"Every third Saturday in September over the last 33 years -- in hundreds of countries, thousands of cities worldwide -- millions of volunteers have been going to their local beaches, shorelines, rivers, parks, coasts, you name it... to do a shoreline cleanup," says VolunteerCleanup.org's Dara Schoenwald.

"It is the world's largest single-volunteer event for our beaches and waterways and oceans."

If you're looking to get involved, a list of locations and sign-ups is available below:

The event is sponsored by VolunteerCleanUp.org. VolunteerCleanup.Org engages volunteers to cleanup their neighborhoods, shorelines, and waterways as a way to raise awareness about marine debris and encourage people to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.
