Trask's Big Day Keys Gators Shellacking Of Commodores

The Florida Gators rebounded from their loss to Georgia two weeks ago by putting up over 400 yards passing, including 363 fron Kyle Trask, and three touchdown runs by Emory Jones in a 56-0 drubbing of Vanderbilt Saturday in Gainesville.

Both sides could not put any points on the board in the first quarter, but Florida jumped out to the lead on the first play of the second quarter, as Trask found Lamichal Perine from a yard out for a 7-0 lead.

The Gators forced a turnover with an interception by Donocan Stiner, and was back in the end zone four plays later when Trask ran it in from nine yards out.

Florida had two more chances to put points on the board in the second, but Kyle Carpenter missed a 41-yard field goal, and Vanderbilt intercepted Trask for the second time in the half as the Gators were looking for more as the half came to a close.

Trevino Grimes started the second half on a good note for Florida, taking the first play on offense and going 66 yards to make it 21-0, and after forcing Vanderbilt to go three and out, Trask used two passes to find paydirt again, with Kyle Pitts going the final 15 yards.

The Commodores then drove deep into Florida territory before seeing Deuce Wallace get stripped on a sack and Jonathan Greenard return it 80 yards for a 35-0 advantage.

Jones made it 42-0 late in the third with his first touchdown of the afternoon, a 13-yard run, and added touchdown runs of one and three yards in the final.period to set the score.

Trask's 363 yards through the air were the most by a Florida quarterback since Tim Tebow threw for 482 yards in the 2010 Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati.

The Gators (8-2) next travel to Columbia, Missouri to take on the Tigers (5-3) next Saturday.
