Gators Knock Off Virginia To Win Orange Bowl

The 9th ranked Florida Gators (11-2) knocked off #24 Virginia Cavaliers (9-5) 38-26 on Monday night to claim the Capital One Orange Bowl title.

Lamical Perine set the pace for the Gators, running in a 61-yard touchdown in the first minute and never looking back. After Virginia tied the game 14-14 early in the second quarter, the Gators answered with ten second quarter points to make it 24-14 at halftime. The Gators needed only ten second half points to secure the Orange Bowl victory and pick up their 11th win of the season.

Perine finished the game with 138 yards and two touchdowns on the ground - he also added 43 yards and a touchdown receiving. Kyle Trask went 24-of-39 with 305 yards passing, throwing one touchdown and one interception - Van Jefferson was his favorite target, pulling in 129 yards in the air.
