SEC Approves Conference-Only Schedule

The Southeastern Conference Thursday announced that their football teams will not have any non-conference opponents in the 2020 season, and that in order to try and allow schools to focus on a safe return of their students, the 2020 season will be pushed back to September 26.

"This new plan for a football schedule is consistent with the educational goals of our universities to allow for the safe and orderly return to campus of their student populations and to provide a healthy learning environment during these unique circumstances presented by the COVID-19 virus," commissioner Greg Sankey said. "This new schedule supports the safety measures that are being taken by each of our institutions to ensure the health of our campus communities."

For the Florida Gators, games at home against Eastern Washington (September 5), South Alabama (September 19), and New Mexico State (November 21) will all be cancelled, and their game against Kentucky on September 12 will have to be rescheduled for later in the season
