Florence Expected To Bring Catastrophic Rain, Flooding, FEMA Says

Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) predict that areas along the coast in the main path of Hurricane Florence could see catastrophic flooding and up to 40 inches of rain.

In their briefing this morning, FEMA officials told residents in mandatory evacuation areas to pack up and get out while they can.

Infrastructure damage and power outages are expected as some parts of the Carolinas could experience more than 24-hours of hurricane conditions.

Florence remains a Category-4 storm with winds expected to get up to 134 miles-per-hour.

It's predicted to deliver tropical-storm-force winds by noon Thursday to North Carolina's coast, and hurricane-force winds and dangerous storm surges by late Thursday or early Friday.
