Colin Cowherd Says Baker Mayfield Already Peaked as an NFL Quarterback

Cleveland Browns v San Francisco 49ers
Colin Cowherd: “Baker, you’re 5’11” 1/2, it looks like you’ve gained weight, you run a 4.8 forty, have a rookie head coach, and bad offensive line, and you’re taunting people?? In my history of Colin Wrong/Colin Right this is my first ballot Hall of Fame ‘right.’ Police video, leading the NFL in picks, taunting players –– what is that? BAD JUDGEMENT. Stop with the 29 commercials and ‘I feel dangerous’. Last night was embarrassing and he’s regressing. His strength – accuracy – is now an issue, he’s no longer accurate. 5’11”, 4.8 forty, and completing 56% of his passes is a backup in the NFL and I’m not sure he’s even a backup. The further he gets from Lincoln Riley, the worse his mechanics get, and the worse his tempo gets. He needs to go to Oklahoma in the offseason for about six weeks and get back to Lincoln Riley's camp. Riley squeezed every ounce of juice out of this two time walk-on.” (Full Video at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Colin Cowherd discuss Baker Mayfield’s ugly performance on Monday Night Football that yielded one of the lowest single-game QBR scores in the 13 years since the advanced metric began.

Mayfield went 8 of 22 for his 100 yards, with zero touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 2 fumbles (one lost), and 4 sacks to earn a 1.4 QBR in the Browns 31-3 evisceration at the hands of San Francisco.

Not only was the statline a terrible look for Mayfield, but Colin says the lack of respect from NFL players towards Mayfield is also a concern, as players are already taking notice of Mayfield's arrogant antics that have continued into the NFL.

Forty-Niners cornerback Richard Sherman alleges that Mayfield refused to shake his hand during the coin toss, and 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa trolled Mayfield after one near-sack and throwaway, by acting like he was planting a flag in the field, obviously referencing Mayfield's notorious flag-planting after Mayfield's Sooners beat Bosa's Buckeyes at the Horseshoe in 2017. Colin wonders if NFL players even respect the unapologetic 24-year-old.

Mayfield has the third worst passer rating in the league through five games and leads the NFL in interceptions.

Colin is worried that Baker has already hit his ceiling as a quarterback – One overwhelmingly propelled because of the genius guidance of his former coach Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma. Colin says Mayfield is already appearing like a player who is beginning to regress in his second year in the league.

Check out the video below as Colin believes Mayfield might already be at the crossroads of his NFL career just 19 games in.
